Industry Insight Brings Database Learning Closer to the Real World

On 20 May 2026, an Industry to Classroom activity was successfully conducted for the Database Fundamentals course at SEGi University, involving diploma students from the information technology field.

The session was attended by 10 diploma students, together with several information technology lecturers. An invited industry representative from Gambit Tech Solution shared valuable insights into the company’s background, business operations, and current industry practices related to database systems and information technology.

During the session, students were introduced to practical industry expectations, including how database knowledge is applied in professional settings. The representative also briefed students on the assessment and project expectations connected to the course, helping them understand how academic learning can be translated into practical outcomes.

The activity provided students with meaningful exposure to real world industry requirements, practical database applications, and professional expectations within the information technology sector. It also strengthened the link between classroom learning and industry practice, allowing students to better understand the relevance of database system concepts in today’s digital workplace.

This activity supports the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 Quality Education, SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
