SEGi University Strengthens Pharmaceutical Industry Collaboration with Novugen Pharma

SEGi University continues to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia through meaningful engagement with key players in the pharmaceutical sector.

The Faculty of Pharmacy successfully hosted an insightful webinar in collaboration with representatives from Novugen Pharma Sdn Bhd, featuring Ms Ain Shuhadah and Mr Deenesh Prabakaran. The session provided Bachelor of Pharmacy students with valuable exposure to the real world pharmaceutical industry, helping them connect classroom learning with current industry practices.

Acting Dean Dr Bama V.V. Menon welcomed further collaboration between Novugen Pharma and SEGi University, highlighting the importance of partnerships that open doors to student career growth, academic excellence, and lifelong enrichment for both institutions.

During the session, Ms Ain Shuhadah introduced students to Novugen Pharma’s corporate background, operational landscape, and vision within Malaysia’s growing pharmaceutical ecosystem. Her sharing gave students a deeper appreciation of the industry’s evolving role in healthcare innovation.

Complementing this, Mr Deenesh Prabakaran shared his professional journey and practical experiences in pharmaceutical manufacturing. His insights offered students a closer look at career pathways, workplace expectations, and the essential competencies required to succeed in the industry.

Moderated by Assoc Prof Dr Tham Hong Wai and Ms Rini Dinesh Sangarran, the webinar received highly positive engagement from students. The session successfully achieved its academic objectives by combining organisational perspectives with relatable professional experiences, giving students a clearer understanding of the pharmaceutical profession beyond the classroom.

Adding to this milestone, SEGi University and Novugen Pharma Sdn Bhd officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking the beginning of a stronger strategic partnership between academia and industry. This collaboration paves the way for future initiatives, including academic webinars, research opportunities, industry engagement activities, and collaborative projects designed to enhance student learning and professional readiness.
