The G.L.O.B.E Lecture Series, which stands for Global Learning Opportunities, Bridging Excellence, was successfully held on 1 April 2026 via Zoom as a collaborative initiative between SEGi University and Pangasinan State University.
The online event brought together more than 200 lecturers and students from both institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to global academic engagement, knowledge exchange, and international learning opportunities.
The lecture series featured two distinguished speakers from the field of architecture. Dr Zunaibi Abdullah, Senior Lecturer from the Architecture Department, Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at SEGi University, delivered a lecture titled “History of Malaysian Architecture.” His session explored the chronological development of architecture in Malaysia, with a focus on how the post independence era contributed to shaping the nation’s architectural identity. The lecture also highlighted the evolution of architectural styles in response to cultural, social, historical, and environmental influences.
The second lecture was presented by Ar. Alven T. Bactad, Senior Faculty Member from the Architecture Department at Pangasinan State University, Urdaneta City Campus, Philippines. His lecture, titled “Filipino Architecture Through Time: The Historical Evolution of Philippine Architecture,” offered valuable regional perspectives on the development of architecture in the Philippines. His sharing further enriched the session by encouraging cross cultural understanding and academic dialogue between the two institutions.
Beyond knowledge sharing, the G.L.O.B.E Lecture Series served as a meaningful platform for international collaboration in higher education. Through the exchange of architectural perspectives from Malaysia and the Philippines, participants gained a broader understanding of how history, culture, environment, and national identity shape the built environment.
The programme also reinforced the important role of universities in advancing global partnerships and creating learning experiences that extend beyond geographical boundaries. By connecting lecturers and students across countries, the session encouraged intellectual exchange, professional growth, and a deeper appreciation of architectural discourse within the region.
Overall, the G.L.O.B.E Lecture Series strengthened SEGi University’s commitment to international academic collaboration while supporting inclusive learning, sustainable thinking in architecture, and meaningful institutional partnerships.
